The Information War

This is the most important issue and is tied to all of the others. Our ability to craft policy will be useless if we do not understand and acknowledge the nature of our situation.

The United States' public has been the target of constant, unceasing information warfare for almost three decades. This war includes misinformation, character assassination, destruction of our ability to reason, and destruction of the ideas of fact and truth. It aims to control and damage people's ability to think.

You probably have at least one friend or family member who you once knew to be a decent, kind, and compassionate person but now has changed. This is not because they are no longer a good person--they are casualties in this information war. They are disoriented and demoralized. And the number of victims continues to grow.

There are many other important issues! And I'm happy to discuss them all, but they all depend on our success in this one.

If we do not effectively combat this information war, every other Democratic policy priority becomes vanishingly unlikely. President Biden, working with Democratic Congress, delivered amazing policy victories during his term in office. However, we did not fight the Information War, and that entire legacy is in the process of being swept away.

Before reading on, made a donation to start fighting the Information War!

A Method to the Madness

Three types of organizations have consistently been targets of Surrender-in-Chief's Information War:

Federal Employees, including organizations that would seem to not touch politics such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

Universities, in particular Harvard as an example to others

The Judiciary, including judges and lawyers in both private and government practice

Why?

Because each of these generates independent data in processes not controlled by either the President or Corporations. Our society has become strong by generating, interpreting, and then following data--and doing so as objectively as possible. However, the main object of these actions is to either subjugate the data coming out of these institutions to pre-existing biases or stop it outright. They want to control reality itself.

In this context, all of the other ridiculous, illegal, and outrageous actions taken or statements made by Surrender-in-Chief's regime are done to distract from their real purpose. To be sure, these actions are incredibly destructive standing alone and must be combatted. However, we as Democrats must *recognize* the regime's primary goal.

How to Fight

There's no easy way to fight the power of mass media (Fox News, primarily) to hammer their information bullets into the national psyche both by constant repeition and by pushing those bullets to other information outlets to create a blanketing effect across media.

1) Call it out for what it is

Fox News does not lie. It conducts information warfare. The people in front of the camera are not delivering news or opinions--they are delivering effects. Those who have succumbed to information warfare are victims, not cultists or "deplorables." We need to make this the language of the Democratic Party.

2) Faster, Funnier!

We need to accurately capture the effects and consequences of this Information Warfare, but humor and brevity are more important than excruciating detail. And although it IS a sinister plot, Democrats may have more success with certain audiences by characterizing these actions as dumbassery rather than evil.

3) The personal connection matters

Democratic leaders need to be, well, LEADERS. We need to be in front of people--and not just OUR people. Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez and a few others are doing this. Gatherings in person (rallies, town halls, etc) not only allow us to show our humanity, but also build a sense of community. We need to make these events that people enjoy.

I want to be your Representative and fight this war

I'm not an expert on the parliamentary minutiae of Congress. I do know people, though. I know this country. I believe that, aside from a very few, most people are still fundamentally good and can be reached.

Federal Government and Workers

As noted above, federal workers are a target in this Information War because they produce data independently of political influence. The attacks usually focus on real or imagined mistakes or imperfections in federal programs, with the only solution to do away with them completely.

Veterans voices are a key way to blunt this attack. We spend years becoming very well acquainted with the shortcomings of the federal government and the difficulties in running large programs.

In spite of this, we still love our country even with its imperfections and know first-hand of the ability of the government to do good.

Health Care

Healthcare is a national security issue.

A sick nation cannot win the future.

I can tell you from 20 years in the Navy that government healthcare works. It's not perfect all the time--but no healthcare system is.

We should work to incrementally expand offerings of government healthcare, starting with routine checkups and primary care.

The federal government should also create more opportunities to facilitate the education of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers.

Education

Education is a national security issue.

If we're stupid, we lose. If we don't or can't study, we lose.

In the short term, I will first advocate for federal funding for breakfast and lunch to be available to every student. If kids are hungry, they can't learn. This is not charity--this is about strengthening our nation.

Teachers are on the front lines of the information war! We should elevate the profession by granting greater autonomy to lift young minds towards national-level goals, such as renewable energy and space exploration.

All students should study math and hard sciences to a higher level than is currently required. I love the arts and social sciences, but the analytical rigor of the hard sciences will be a key factor in competitiveness, now and in the future.

Finally, public school teachers should not pay taxes. Let's elevate the profession and help it attract the best possible talent.
